The SS Rajamouli directed mega budget entertainer RRR starring Ram Charan, Jr. NTR, Alia Bhatt and Ajay Devgn hit screens last week on Friday. Being one of the most talked about and keenly anticipated releases of recent times, expectations of the film’s business were at an all-time high. In fact, marking Rajamouli’s first directorial venture post the hugely successful Baahubali saga, the film was touted to be one of the biggest money spinners of the year.
Not surprisingly, the makers of RRR left no stone unturned to ensure the success of the film, from a wide screen count to massive promotions; the film’s makers ensure every aspect of the film was larger than life. In the overseas market of UK and Ireland, RRR which saw a release across 161 screens has been performing rather well. Collecting a staggering £6,08,384 [Rs. 6.11 cr] RRR currently ranks 4th on the list at the UK & Ireland box office. When compared to previous releases the SS Rajamouli has outperformed other big ticket Bollywood releases in this territory.
Going forward, RRR that has seen an increase in collections with each passing day is expected to continue to see growth over its first week as well. In fact, trade estimates state that the business of RRR will surpass the collections of the previously released Alia Bhatt starrer Gangubai Kathiawadi that collected £6,83,602 [Rs. 6.87 cr] till date, in the coming few days.
