EXCLUSIVE: Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Jawan sets a RECORD; runs for 66 days without INTERRUPTION at Raj Mandir, Jaipur: “We don’t remember when was the last time this happened in Raj Mandir”

Jawan, the highest grossing film of Bollywood, is in its tenth week currently in cinemas. Though it was released on Netflix on lead actor Shah Rukh Khan’s birthday on November 2, it managed to run in cinemas thereafter. And now it has come to light that it has set a record in the iconic single screen theatre, Raj Mandir, at Jaipur.

Jawan has been running at Raj Mandir ever since it’s release on September 7. This means that it has completed 66 days in this theatre as of Saturday, November 11.

Often, exhibitors discontinue a film to make way for newer releases and bring back the same film during dry weeks. Raj Mandir, however, has been running Jawan without interruption, though it did reduce its shows to accommodate the films that released subsequently. At present, Jawan is running with four shows a day.

When contacted, Kishore Kala of Raj Mandir said that he’s quite glad with Jawan’s run. When asked when was the last time a film ran for more than 60 days, he replied, “Honestly, we don’t remember when was the last time this happened in Raj Mandir.” He spoke highly of the action entertainer, “The film has run on its merits.”

An exhibition source remarked, “Jawan benefited as the films that followed weren’t that successful. Even this weekend, it has been allotted all four shows due to lack of any alternative. Nevertheless, one can’t deny that Jawan had enough masala and entertainment along with Shah Rukh Khan’s star power that made it a success.”

Jawan will have its last day today at Raj Mandir. From tomorrow, all shows of the film will be allotted to Salman Khan’s Diwali release Tiger 3. This means that Raj Mandir is the only cinema hall in India to play Jawan from the first day to its last day in cinemas.
