A R Rahman to receive honorary doctorate from Berklee

Music maestro A R Rahman over the years has been conferred with numerous honours for his excellence in the file of music. Soon he will be adding yet another feather to his hat in the form of an honorary doctorate from the Berklee College of Music.

 

The honour that will be conferred on Rahman on October 24 is in recognition of his two decade long musical career. Apart from this honour, the university will also be establishing a scholarship in his name for future generations of musicians to follow their dreams.

Best remembered for his musical renditions in films Slumdog Millionaire, 127 Hours, Elizabeth: The Golden Age and Million Dollar Arm, Rahman will also perform alongside the students and faculty who will perform songs paying tribute to his work. In addition to the performance, he will conduct a master class at the Berklee Performance Center.
