Irrfan Khan quits Vashu Bhagnani's Welcome To Karachi

It was just recently that Arshad Warsi was roped in to play one of the prominent roles in Vashu Bhagnani's Welcome To Karachi and now we hear that Irrfan Khan, who has been associated with the film for long, backed out at the last moment.

 

Irrfan Khan was supposed to take a flight today on September 10 to London in order to start the shoot schedule of the film but the actor called up producer Vashu Bhagnani at the last moment and claimed that he will not be able to board the flight since he is busy with other commitments. Irrfan Khan further added that he can start shooting only from next month. On the other hand, Vashu Bhagnani was upset since his entire team was stranded in London waiting for the arrival of Irrfan Khan. The producer was also in shock because he believed that Irrfan was kicked about the script and did not expect him to quit at the last moment. Despite Bhagnani's repeated attempts to persuade Irrfan, the actor remained adamant and did not relent. Moreover, Vashu is also upset over the way his budget will be suffering a setback if they will have to wait for the arrival of Irrfan Khan.

Welcome To Karachi had a grand launch last week and now with one of the leads of the film making an exit, the miffed producer is now in search of a replacement. He also expressed the difficulty in finding an actor at the last moment. Vashu Bhagnani is currently in a dilemma but the producer maintained that he will be coming back to Mumbai to find the actor who will do justice to Irrfan Khan's character.

 

The film revolves around the journey of two Indians in Karachi who get trapped in sticky situations since they do not hold proper documents. Welcome To Karachi is to be directed by Ashish Mohan.
