Box Office: Shivaay sustains well over the second weekend

 

Shivaay has sustained itself well in the second weekend by bringing on Rs. 17.09 crore more. Currently at Rs. 87.50 crore, the film is now less than Rs. 15 crore away from the 100 crore mark. Every time an  film has entered the 80s, it has gone past the Rs. 100 crore mark. In fact any film of his that has been bigger than Drishyam [Rs. 77 crore] has invariably touched Rs. 100 crore. The only exception has been Raajneeti [Rs. 93 crore] and that was a multi-starrer. Ajay has managed five centuries already [Singham, Singham Returns, Golmaal Returns, Son of Sardaar, Bol Bachchan] and Shivaay should eventually reach there.Box Office: Shivaay sustains well over the second weekend

 

The film has also benefitted from the fact that there has been no new release this weekend. Yes, there has been competition from Ae Dil Hai Mushkil though which evens out things to an extent. Nonetheless, the film is now pretty much on its own when it comes to working with the target audience and in that aspect the smaller centers are resulting in good revenues.

 

Shivaay would be well into its 90s when it enters the third weekend and from there on it would be an academic interest to gauge the film's journey towards the 100 crore mark.
