Box Office: Thugs of Hindostan out beats Sanju; becomes the highest opening day grosser of 2018

The year 2018 has been a surprise filled year for Bollywood, with certain big ticket releases missing the mark at the box office we also saw some smaller films make it big. Well, continuing with the releases this year we finally see the release of the much awaited and highly anticipated film Thugs of Hindostan. Directed by Vijay Krishna Acharya starring Aamir Khan and Amitabh Bachchan the film opened on a high note.

Collecting a staggering Rs. 52.25 cr on its opening day Thugs of Hindostan has managed to surpass the previously released film Sanju that had collected Rs. 34.75 cr on Day 1 to become the highest opening day grosser of 2018. If that wasn’t all, the opening day business of Thugs of Hindostan has managed to clock higher collections than other releases like Race 3 that collected Rs. 28.50 cr, Gold that collected Rs. 25.25 cr, Baaghi 2 that collected Rs. 25.10 cr, Padmaavat that collected Rs. 24 cr, Satyameva Jayate that collected Rs. 19.50 cr, Veere Di Wedding that collected Rs. 10.70 cr, Pad Man that collected Rs. 10.26 cr, and Raid that collected Rs. 10.04 cr.

 

Currently given the fact that Thugs of Hindostan faces almost no competition from other releases, all that remains to be seen is whether the film manages to become one of the highest opening weekend grossers of 2018 as well.
