Box Office: Understanding the Economics of Radhe – Your Most Wanted Bhai; Salman Khan to earn Rs. 100 cr. profit

After much talk and fanfare the Salman Khan-Disha Patani starrer Radhe – Your Most Wanted Bhai released on Eid as promised. The film which saw a simultaneous release in theatres and on the OTT platform ZeePlex became the first big ticket Bollywood entertainer to accomplish this feat. But was the release commercially successful for Salman Khan and the makers of the film is the question of the hour.

Radhe – Your Most Wanted Bhai that released on Pay Per View at Rs. 249, has been doing rather well. Bollywood Hungama had reported that the makers of the film sold all the rights to ZEE for a mammoth Rs. 190 cr. With the Cost of Production (CoP) of Radhe pegged at Rs. 90 cr, Salman, who incidentally has also produced the film, stands to earn Rs. 100 cr. as profit.

 

Initially though, the deal was to see Salman and the makers of the film draw in Rs. 230 cr. from the sale of the rights to ZEE. In that case Salman Khan would have raked in Rs. 130 cr. as profit.

 

Currently all eyes are on the revenue generated by ZEE from the Pay Per View model which could set the precedent for forthcoming films.
