Dharmaveer Box Office: Marathi film does roaring business in week 1; collects Rs. 13.87 cr

Last week on Friday we saw the release of the Marathi film Dharmaveer. The Prasad Oak starrer which opened to a modest start with Rs. 2.05 cr coming in saw it collections increase massively over its first weekend in theatres. If that wasn’t all, the business of the film continued to fare well on weekdays as well despite the Bollywood release Jayeshbhai Jordaar occupying a major number of screens.

Now after a week long run at the box office Dharmaveer that has seen a release only in Maharashtra has managed to draw in a cool Rs. 13.87 cr. in fact, the business of the film, which is based on the life of Shiv Sena political leader from Thane district, Anand Dighe, has managed to consistently draw in over Rs. 1 cr on weekdays as well. In terms of collections, locations like Thane, Kalyan, Dombivali, Pune, Nashik and Mumbai have played a major role in boosting the film’s business.

 

Going forward, Dharmaveer is likely to continue its box office run. With new releases hitting screens the Marathi film might face some competition, however the film caters to a niche audience that will not be affected.
