Drishyam 2 Advance Booking Report: Ajay Devgn starrer sells 35,332 tickets for the opening weekend at the national multiplex chains

Bollywood actor Ajay Devgn is all set to return to the big screen within a month with the sequel of his 2015 release, Drishyam. The makers opened its advance booking for a day on October 2, and now, as the film is just a week away, full-fledged advances have opened on Saturday evening. Going by the data, Abhishek Pathak has gotten off to a good start in terms of advance booking.

Of the total ticket sales, the three national chains - PVR, Inox, and Cinepolis - have sold 35,332 tickets for the opening weekend. It is worth mentioning the number of tickets stated here is booked till Sunday morning, which means these are not the final numbers for the first weekend.

 

Drishyam 2 still has four days till it hits theatres, yet the advance has already surpassed that of the last two Ajay Devgn-starring movies, Runway 34 and Thank God. Meanwhile, on-spot bookings and the walk-in audience will also add to the business of the film on its opening weekend. Given the hype and cult following of Drishyam, the film is expected to have a decent opening.

 

Speaking of Ajay Devgn’s previous release, Thank God, it sold around 12,000 tickets in the three national chains - PVR, Inox, and Cinepolis, which was lower than Raksha Bandhan, Prithviraj, and Shamshera, among others. Though the film already has a wide fandom, its storyline and the performance of the star cast will be major pull points for the audience to attract.

 

Slated to release on November 15, the main cast members will reprise their respective characters, while Akshaye Khanna will enter the series as a cop.
