The Kashmir Files Box Office Collections: The Kashmir Files is thunderous on Sunday, collects Rs. 26.20 cr; total collections at Rs. 167.45 cr

Sunday was a huge day at the box office as around Rs. 37.25 crores came in. This immediately established the fact that Bollywood is indeed back on its feet as collections have been monumental right through the Holi weekend. Rs. 69.20 crores had already been collected during Saturday and Sunday between The Kashmir Files and Bachchhan Paandey. Now with Sunday being the best day ever for the Hindi film industry for more than a couple of years now, we are competing with the best of the best days even pre-pandemic, which shows how quickly has the industry revived with the right set of films working amongst the audience.

This can well be seen with the kind of collections that The Kashmir Files enjoyed on Sunday. Rs. 26.20 crores came for the film which is astonishing but not entirely surprising since that was always on the cards. What would have been more surprising though had the numbers gone past the Rs. 30 crores milestones since that’s the kind of level play at which the Vivek Agnihotri directed film is operating at. Standing at Rs. 167.45 crores, the film will enter the Rs. 200 Crore Club inside the second week itself, and then it would start its ride towards the Rs. 300 crores mark, which is now there for the taking.

 

In the middle of this all, Bachchhan Paandey has suffered since audience attention has been totally diverted towards The Kashmir Files due to the content as well as the curiosity factor. This was evidenced in Sunday collections of the masala flick as well which stood at Rs. 12 crores, which is on the same lines as Saturday numbers of Rs. 12 crores. Currently standing at Rs. 37.25 crores, the film is not quite doing justice to the kind of box office standing that Akshay Kumar enjoys and the prestige that Sajid Nadiadwala enjoys as a producer who left no stone unturned to bring this biggie in theatres. All eyes are now on how the weekdays turn out to be for Bachchhan Paandey and the closet that Monday would be to Friday numbers of Rs. 13.25 crores.
