KGF – Chapter 2 Box Office: Film surpasses 2.0; ranks as 3rd all-time highest Hindi dubbed grosser in 5 days

The Yash starrer KGF – Chapter 2 released last week on Thursday opened to a thunderous response from the audience. Far exceeding expectations the film saw the audience patronizing it in droves. In fact, to accommodate the demand theatres in certain locations even featured shows starting at 6 AM with some other locations hosting special shows post-midnight. The craze for KGF 2 was so tremendous that the business of the film has gone on to record four consecutive days with collections over the Rs. 40 cr mark. Now on its fifth day running KGF 2 has raked in a further Rs. 25.75 cr taking its total collections to Rs. 219.56 cr.

In this box office report, we look at the collections of KGF – Chapter 2 till date while comparing the same to previous Hindi dubbed releases. Not surprisingly, the business of KGF 2 has surpassed the lifetime business of the Rajinikanth – Akshay Kumar starrer 2.0 which had collected Rs. 189.56 cr in just 5 days. With this, the Yash starrer now ranks as the third all-time highest Hindi dubbed grosser. Besides 2.0, the five-day business of KGF 2 also manages to out beat other releases like Saaho which collected Rs. 142.95 cr, Bahubali - The Beginning which collected Rs. 118.7 cr, and Pushpa: The Rise - Part 1 which had collected Rs. 108.26 cr among others.

 

While currently, the SS Rajamouli directorial Baahubali 2 – The Conclusion retains the top spot with a collection of Rs. 510.99 cr, KGF – Chapter 2 looks set to overtake the business of RRR which had collected Rs. 253.84 cr. In fact, trade predictions state that if KGF 2 maintains its current momentum, the business of the film could go past the Rs. 300 cr mark in the coming days.
