The much talked about and keenly anticipated Akshay Kumar starrer Ram Setu was released last week on Tuesday. Thanks to the festive holiday of Diwali trade predictions stated that the film would open on a thunderous note. However, contrary to expectations, Ram Setu opened to a tepid response from the audience in both the domestic and overseas markets. In fact, though the domestic market saw a decent spate of collections, in the overseas territories the business of the film has been rather lacklustre.

Shockingly, despite the hype and promotions around Ram Setu the film has emerged as one of Akshay Kumar’s lowest grossing releases in the overseas markets. Collecting just USD 650K over its extended opening weekend, predications state that the business of the film could expect a lifetime collection of USD 1 million that will stand as Akshay’s lowest till date post Covid. In fact, when compared to the actor’s previous releases, only the Rohit Shetty directorial Sooryavanshi was able to make an impact. Collecting USD 8.3 million, the film towers above the rest of Akshay Kumar’s recent releases.
