Singham Again Box Office: Emerges as Rohit Shetty’s highest opener, overtakes Chennai Express

Filmmaker Rohit Shetty is known for making larger-than-life and multi-starrer blockbusters. Apart from the Golmaal franchise, he has also created a cop universe that contains films like Singham, Simmba and Sooryavanshi and has been pretty successful at that. Singham Again, his latest outing in the Singham franchise, released yesterday to a huge number of Rs. 43.70 crores.

The opening number is also his best till date. Before this film, Shetty’s highest opener was the Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone starrer Chennai Express, which opened at Rs. 33.12 crores and went onto become a blockbuster.

 

The third position is held by Singham Returns, the second film in the Singham franchise, which amassed Rs. 32.09 crores on its opening day. This is followed by Golmaal Again, another film with the pair of Shetty and Devgn, with Rs. 30.14 crores. The fifth film in the list is the Akshay Kumar starrer Sooryavanshi (Rs. 26.29 crores).

 

Coming back to Singham Again, the film is expected to benefit with the positive word of mouth today (Saturday) and Sunday. Apart from Devgn, it also stars Kareena Kapoor Khan, Tiger Shroff, Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone and Akshay Kumar.
