Sooryavanshi Box Office: Sooryavanshi becomes the 4th highest all time opening day for Rohit Shetty

Rohit Shetty’s directorial Sooryavanshi that has been making headlines since its announcement finally hit screens after much delay. The film which features Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif with special appearances from Ranveer Singh and Ajay Devgn had fallen victim to the Covid-19 pandemic with theatres being shut. However, with restrictions being relaxed the film has finally hit the big screen with predictions stating that Sooryavanshi is likely to take off to a flying start.

Collecting Rs. 26.29 cr, Sooryavanshi has managed to surpass Rohit’s previous releases like Dilwale that collected Rs. 21 cr, Simmba that collected Rs. 20.72 cr, Bol Bachchan that collected Rs. 12.10 cr, Singham that collected Rs. 8.94 cr, Golmaal 3 that collected Rs. 8 cr, and Golmaal Returns that had collected Rs. 5.89 cr. With this the film has now become Rohit Shetty’s fourth highest opening day grosser till day.

 

Though, Sooryavanshi has performed above expectations at the box office, the limited seating in key markets like Maharashtra has taken a toll on the film’s business. In fact, estimates state that had Sooryavanshi released in pre-Covid times, the film would in all likelihood surpass the collections of Rohit’s other releases like Chennai Express that collected Rs. 33.12 cr, Singham Returns that collected Rs. 32.09 cr, and Golmaal Again that had collected Rs. 30.14 cr.

 

As for its future box office prospects, with certain territories relaxing the 50% occupancy restriction, and permitting a 100% occupancy, the business of Sooryavanshi is certainly expected to see immense growth.
