Ajay Devgn & Rohit Shetty felicitated with 'Pride of the Nation' award
On the occasion of 'National Police Day 2012', the All India Anti Terrorist Front had organized a commemorative program at Vigyan Bhawan under the patronage of its chairman, M. S. Bitta to pay tribute to the martyrs of paramilitary forces who laid down their precious lives to protect their motherland.
Ajay Devgn & Rohit Shetty felicitated with 'Pride of the Nation' award
Gracing the occasion were Chief Guest Ajay Devgn (who's also the brand ambassador of Maharashtra Police) and Rohit Shetty, both of who were honored with the 'Pride of Nation Award' for spreading the message of patriotism and secularism through his film Singham by Anti Terrorist Front, Chairman M. S. Biita and others. Besides them, the other dignitaries who were present included K. Vijay Kumar IPS (ex-DG CRPF), Kiran Mehra Kerpelman (Director UNIC) and others. During the event, the widows of the martyrs of the resolute soldiers came up on the dais to present the honors to Ajay and Rohit.
The most poignant moment was when Dr. Madhurani Teotia, IAS, came up pensively to receive the 'Singham' bravery award in the fond memory of her husband (late) Narendra Kumar, IPS, who went down fighting the mining mafia in Morena, MP. She received the award from the hands of Sumedh Singh Saini (DGP Punjab), Ajay Devgn, Rohit Shetty and the host of the program M. S. Bitta. After receiving the award, she rendered a moving speech highlighting her brave husband's humble background and his duties as a responsible police officer. Sumedh Singh Saini, DGP Punjab who played a stellar role himself during the days when terrorism was at its peak in Punjab also spoke on the occasion inspiring the mixed gathering comprising young students and elderly statesman, police officers and other illustrious members of the society on the sublime occasion.
In addition to this, the 'Singham' bravery award was shared by brave jawans belonging to the Punjab Police, CISF, CRPF, Delhi Police, Uttarakhand Police, Haryana Police and J & K Police.
