Ali Asgar opens up about parting ways with Kapil Sharma; reveals communication gap was the reason behind his exit

Ali Asgar has played many memorable roles in shows like Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii and FIR. He became much more popular as ‘Dadi’ on the comedy show hosted by Kapil Sharma. His role entertained the audience as well as the many celebrities who came on the show as guests. However, a few years later, the actor quit the show citing creative differences with Kapil Sharma. And now he will be returning as a contestant on the dance reality show Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa, Season 10. Although Ali has not spoken much about his exit from The Kapil Sharma Show, the actor recently opened up about it and added that there were many reasons including communication gap with the comedian.

In an interview with ETimes, Ali Asgar got candid about parting ways with Kapil Sharma. He said, “We missed each other’s calls back then and there was a communication gap. With time, both of us moved on. But I am happy that I was a part of it and I learned a lot from him. I will always respect him. He understands the pulse of the audience and knows how to hold a show.”

 

He not only spoke about him quitting the show but also admitted about how the character 'Dadi' which was highly appreciated in The Kapil Sharma Show, could not do well on any other shows. “I completely agree that I couldn’t recreate the success in projects that followed. Ho sakta hai shows mein woh baat nahi thi ya performance mein kuchh kami hogi (Maybe the shows lacked something, or maybe my performance was not upto the mark),” he shared.

 

“Complaining about it is a futile exercise. There is always a lot to analyse. However, I don’t have any regrets. I had a reason to quit the show and it wasn’t an overnight decision. I didn’t have much to do on the show. If the intent was to earn money, I would have still continued on the show,” he concluded.

 

Now, on the work front, Ali Asgar will be seen competing with the likes of Nia Sharma, Paras Kalnawat, Dheeraj Dhoopar, Shilpa Shinde, Amruta Khanvilkar, among others on Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 10.
