TV actor Charu Asopa has taken to Instagram to share a heartfelt post, shedding light on the significant challenges encountered by single women in their quest for suitable housing. In a poignant video, Charu revealed her recent experience of house hunting, expressing the emotional toll of being denied accommodation solely due to her single status.

In a video, Charu tearfully disclosed her recent experience of house hunting, where she was denied accommodation because she is “single." The accompanying Hindi text expressed her frustration with the prevailing societal mindset that attaches a woman's identity to a man's before considering her eligibility for housing.

 

Charu lamented the persistent bias against single women, emphasizing that despite their accomplishments, societal norms still dictate discriminatory practices. She criticized the irony of individuals who publicly advocate for women empowerment while privately perpetuating gender-based prejudices. She said, “No matter what a woman does in our society, how much ever she does, she can never change the thinking of people. Even today, before giving a woman a home, a man's name is attached to her or not, and if not, she is not given to her home. It feels sad to see the condition of the woman of our country. And these people who refuse to give home go out and give big speeches in the name of women empowerment. Today again, I was forbidden from getting a home in 1 society because I am a single mother.
