EXCLUSIVE: “Deepika has a significant role”- director Kabir Khan on Deepika Padukone’s role in 83

Actor Ranveer Singh is all set for his upcoming film 83, which will have a theatrical release on October 24. Directed by Kabir Khan, the film stars Ranveer along with Deepika Padukone, Tahir Raj Bhasin, Jiiva, Amrita Puri, Saqib Saleem, Harrdy Sandhu, Ammy Virk, Pankaj Tripathi, Boman Irani, Nishant Dahiya and Sahil Khattar.

Now, in a recent interview with Bollywood Hungama, when asked about Deepika’s role in the film, Kabir said, “Deepika being the kind of person she is, the kind of actor she is, I think they also try to look at the project as a whole. There is holistic view to the film so its not always about what I am doing or what is my character doing. And I think Deepika looked at it like the kind of film she wants to be associated with and that’s why she is one of our producers.”

 

He further said, “She has a very significant role. Yes, it might not be in length equal to others but the fact is that it’s a really important role because Romi ji played a very important role in Kapil Dev’s life. There is a reason why the character is there and there is a certain dynamic that Kapil ji and Romi ji have that is very unique and we wanted to show that. I thought that the story would be incomplete if I did not show that.”
