Gurmeet Ram Rahim convicted: Bollywood lauds the verdict; condemns the riots in Punjab and Haryana

 

The nation came together to applaud the judicial system on Friday when Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh was found guilty of rape in a case that was registered in 2002. While this was a winning situation for the rape victims, Gurmeet Ram Rahim's followers created a massive havoc in Punjab and Haryana. Soon after the verdict, violence broke out in Punjab and Haryana which has claimed 28 lives and left 250 injured.

 

Bollywood stars such as Farhan Akhtar, Anupam Kher, Bhumi Pednekar, Esha Gupta and Raveena Tandon, among others have praised the court's judgement against Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh. But, they also condemned the riots by his followers.
