Huma Qureshi says she “Would love to hold a machine gun" in a film like Animal; calls Ranbir Kapoor starrer “crafty”
In an exclusive interview with India Today, actress Huma Qureshi revealed her yearning to portray an action-packed character, akin to those seen in films like Sandeep Reddy Vanga's Animal starring Ranbir Kapoor.
Commenting on the recently released Animal, which garnered Ranbir Kapoor the Best Actor award at the Filmfare Awards, Qureshi stated, "I loved the film and really enjoyed it. The machismo, action, and music resonated with me. It's a well-crafted piece, and I believe all types of films should be made, leaving the choice to the audience."
The Gangs of Wasseypur star further shared her ambition to star in an action film as intense as Animal, expressing, "I would love to do a film where I can hold a machine gun, killing thousands of people. I think, as an actor, it is very exciting to be part of something so destructive in the way. That's the way I would put it. When I see a Wolf of Wall Street or edgy films and I see an Animal, I think, as an actor, it is very exciting to play something like that. There is something about it. I don't know what it is."
Released in December 2023, Animal garnered significant recognition at the Filmfare Awards, securing Ranbir Kapoor the Best Actor trophy and awards in several other categories, including Best Playback Singer, Best Music Album, Best Sound Design, and Best Background Score. The film, starring Kapoor alongside Rashmika Mandanna, Anil Kapoor, and Bobby Deol, has generated substantial buzz for its high-octane action and narrative.
