As an actor he debuted 15 years ago in one of the biggest blockbusters Hindi cinema has ever seen- DDLJ. Now he has turned director with the same banner (YRF) that gave him his first break as an actor. He is none other than Parmeet Sethi, director of the recently released Badmaash Company, which is doing very well at the B.O. Parmeet was there on Bollywood Hungama's live video chat a few days back to interact with his fans and it was indeed an interesting session. For all those who missed, here are the excerpts:

Parmeet Sethi: it is mindboggling and very encouraging for a first timer like me

 

jas83 : Hello Parmeet sir, looking forward to seeing BC? Wanted to ask wat made u turn into direction?

 

Parmeet Sethi: jas....When I was acting, in my very first year of my acting I realised that I was more interested in things that were happening behind the camera than infront so its been my desire to turn director for more than 10 years.

jas83 : which location during the shooting u had the best experience.. US? BKK? or others?

 

Parmeet Sethi: jas....US was the best becos it was actually my dream to shoot my first film in New York and I could see that come true.

 

jas83 : do u miss acting?

 

Parmeet Sethi: no

 

jas83 : who is ur role model?

 

Parmeet Sethi: role model is a mix of Yash Chopra and Adi Chopra. They are simply a superb combination of brains , heart and above all great human beings.

Rocky : Whats your take / reaction on the reviews & feedbacks you have got till now ?   Parmeet Sethi: Rocky...I am actually overwhelmed with the kind of response that I have got for BC. It encourages me to keep going in the direction I chose.

jas83 : hows meiyang as an actor? know hes a great singer

 

Parmeet Sethi: When Aditya Chopra can risk crores on a newcomer like me, then who am I to worry about casting new actors. I always feel new actors are more eager and their energy is great.

 

 

jas83 : how did the story of BC come abt>

 

Parmeet Sethi: jas...thats a difficult qtn to answer. It was a relationship on the rebound after my first script due to some technical reasons could not be made. I was in a very frustrated mood and then GOd took pity on me and it happened just like that.

 

Shweta n : PLs make some more movies like BC

 

Parmeet Sethi: Niraj...one will always try to better oneself. this is only my first film as a director. I dream of becoming somebody like Yash Chopra.

 

jas83 : have u stopped acting? what movies do u have coming up as an actor?

 

Parmeet Sethi: jas...for the time being I am not doing any films as an actor. But who knows in the future may be...

 

jas83 : wad made u decide on the 4 stars.. shahid, anushka, vir n meiyang?

 

Parmeet Sethi: they fit the characters to the T and I go completely by what the script demands.

 

Niraj : shoe import was a great idea but multiple bank loans on the same property, corruption in american banks, selling same gloves to the same party which is one of the best in business,selling shirts after washing in 7 shades didnt look believable to me.

Parmeet Sethi: I would love to but I dont knw about getting the DDLJ days back. I think somethings are better left perfectly the way they are.

go well whereas comedy its safe bet

 

Parmeet Sethi: Mandeep... I am not here to be safe. I am here to tell a story from my heart cos thats what I am...a storyteller

 

Shweta n : Which movie of Shahid u like most apart from BC?

 

Parmeet Sethi: Shweta....Jab We Met by far is his best film besides BC

Parmeet Sethi: No although I was completely vegetarian during the making of this film.

Parmeet Sethi: hitsy...obviously Shahid thats why I chose him. but there are other few who are great as well.

 

Mandeep : Every director has one movie that he wants to remake or say this movie has got me into directing which would that be?

 

Parmeet Sethi: Mandeep...I honestly like to do something original and thats what gives me the biggest high.

 

vishal : heartiest congratulations on the release of BC, i saw the flick on the 1st day itself...i have been watching you since your dastaan days... did u always want to be a director?

Niraj : parmeet ji, the film has a romantic track between shahid kapoor and anushka sharma. Why didnt you put a romantic song on them while the film had 4 songs?

 

Parmeet Sethi: Niraj...becos that would not move the story forward... Simple. When I could show the romance in a quicker and shorter way then why not?

Parmeet Sethi: Niraj...Adi is one of the most fun, kind hearted, generous and principled persons that I have met in this world.
