Mirzya benefits from Shivaay v/s Ae Dil Hai Mushkil clash

 

Now this is a classic case of a third person benefitting from the clash between two opponents. It is now a well-known fact that Shivaay and Ae Dil Hai Mushkil are clashing at the box office on the Diwali weekend of October 28. "That's because the film arrives on October 7. Now that's a fantastic date for the film since after this, the next Bollywood releases are Shivaay and Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, both of which arrive on October 28. This gives the Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra film a free run of three weeks and that too in the festive season," informs our trade source.

 

In an industry where 2-4 films try to scrape their way through every Friday, it is unheard of for as many as two Fridays to pass by without any notable film arriving.

 

"And for that, Mirzya should thank Shivaay and Ae Dil Hai Mishkil," an insider adds, "Considering the fact that the Ajay Devgn and Karan Johar's films are major biggies and had expressed their desire to arrive on Diwali long ago; no other filmmaker chose to arrive before or after it. Any other film would have been sandwiched between Mirzya and Shivaay/Ae Dil Hai Mushkil. They would either not have got a good number of screens to begin with or would have lost out on practically all of them in maximum two weeks duration."

 

Since there are 5000 odd prominent screens in the country that play new Bollywood releases, all eyes would be on Shivaay and Ae Dil Hai Mushkil post Diwali.

 

"As a result of this, Harshvardhan Kapoor and Saiyami Kher would be pretty much enjoying an uninterrupted run right from Dusshera to Diwali as there won't be any competition in sight," the trade source continues, "It couldn't have been a better laid situation for the newcomers."

 

Guess at least someone is benefitting from the biggest Bollywood clash ever. Ironically though, that happens to be the newcomers in the battle of veterans.
