Obi-Wan Kenobi: First look at Hayden Christensen returning to Star Wars universe as Darth Vader unveiled

Towards the end of the recently dropped teaser trailer of Obi-Wan Kenobi, a very distinctive voice could be heard, much like the Dark Lord of the Sith, signaling the return of franchise’s one of the most iconic villains - Darth Vader.

As revealed by Entertainment Weekly, we get a glimpse of Darth Vader, who will be reprised by Hayden Christensen, appearing to emerge from his meditation chamber. As the outlet mentions, this could perhaps lead some to believe that we might see the Dark Lord without his iconic mask, as he has removed it before while in the chamber. "I wish I could tell you," Christensen tells EW. "I'm sworn to secrecy."

 

However, Christensen did promise that we’ll definitely witness "a very powerful Vader" in the series that tells part of the story between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope. Elaborating on Vader's role in the series, series writer Joby Harold commented, "His shadow is cast across so much of what we do. And the degree of his proximity to that shadow is something that we'll discover. But he is very much a part of the show emotionally for Obi-Wan, and possibly beyond that as well."

 

Disney+ Hotstar limited series Obi-Wan Kenobi will see the return of Ewan McGregor to the Star Wars universe as he reprises his iconic titular role of the Jedi master. The six-episode series also features Moses Ingram, Joel Edgerton, Bonnie Piesse, Kumail Nanjiani, Indira Varma, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Sung Kang, Simone Kessell and Benny Safdie.

 

Obi-Wan Kenobi is set to take place 10 years after Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith where “Obi-Wan Kenobi faced his greatest defeat, the downfall and corruption of his best friend and Jedi apprentice, Anakin Skywalker, who turned to the dark side as evil Sith Lord Darth Vader.” The epic adventure premieres May 25 on Disney+.
