“Rajkumar Santoshi told me not to catch Maharashtrian accent while playing Nathuram Godse”, says Chinmay Mandlekar on Gandhi Godse: Ek Yudh

After playing Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in Marathi filmmaker Digpal Lanjekar’s four movies on Maratha history (with four more to go) and a bloodthirsty terrorist in The Kashmir Files, Chinmay Mandlekar will now be seen in the role of MK Gandhi’s murderer Nathuram Godse in the upcoming movie Gandhi Godse: Ek Yudh.

Mandlekar is delighted to have gotten a chance to act in a film directed by Rajkumar Santoshi. “Working with a legend like Rajkumar Santoshi was a dream come true,” he said in a statement. “He has directed such big names in the industry, so it was a surreal experience to be under his guidance.”

 

Sharing the filmmaker’s important tip to him, Mandlekar added, “I am a Maharashtrian but he told me not to catch that accent while playing Godse. All these little things helped me portray my character at its finest. And it just feels great to know that when one day people will write about him and his work, I will get to be a part of it and no feeling can be better than this trust me.”

 

Gandhi Godse: Ek Yudh will see Deepak Antani essay the character of Gandhi. The film also stars Pawan Chopra, Tanisha Santoshi, Sharad Singh and Anuj Saini.

 

Gandhi Godse: Ek Yudh will be released in theatres on January 26. The film will release a day after the Shah Rukh Khan-starrer biggie Pathaan will hit the theatres.
