Ranveer Singh recalls his look test for his debut film as they unveil the trailer of Jayeshbhai Jordaar at the same place

The trailer of Ranveer Singh's upcoming film Jayeshbhai Jordaar was unveiled earlier today. The actor plays a Gujarati married man expecting his second child with his wife essayed by Shalini Pandey. However, his family is adamant about him giving them a baby boy so that he can carry forward the family legacy of being the village head. However, when Ranveer finds out that he is going to have a girl he flees town with his elder daughter and wife. Directed by Divyang Thakkar, Maneesh Sharma is one of the co-producers of the film. Maneesh Sharma had also directed Ranveer’s debut film Band Baaja Baaraat.

During the trailer launch event of Jayeshbhai Jordaar, Maneesh Sharma recalled, “His (Ranveer) look test happened right here where we are sitting.” An excited Ranveer who suddenly remembered the same said, "OMG! 11 years ago, I was standing here and my camera test was happening. Adi sir (Aditya Chopra) had told me that this is my world cup final's penalty kick. Tune isme score kiya toh tu champion, nahi kiya toh ghar jaa waapis. Exactly yehi. Kya moment yaad dila diya (If you score in this, you are a champion and if not you can go back home. Right here. What a moment to remember)."

 

Further praising Ranveer, Maneesh said, “His body of work is there for everyone to see. I would say it is the most eclectic body of work for an actor who has been around for 10-11 years. I think it is a feat that is quite unparalleled for any actor. You can have the intent but he made it happen. From his first film, he has been in a position to make a choice, because actors like Ranveer would always be in a situation where they have to say no to a good script, maybe because of time constraints or whether it is something else. In that, to build this body of work, it is truly exceptional."
