Saira Banu turns 79; pens a heartfelt note to share special anecdotes featuring Love, Stardom, and Dilip Kumar
Saira Banu celebrated her 79th birthday today, and in a heartwarming Instagram post, she took her fans on a nostalgic journey through her life's most cherished moments. The veteran actress shared an enthralling glimpse into her childhood, her meteoric rise to stardom, and a love story that transcended the silver screen.
One of the most captivating parts of Banu's birthday post was her recollection of the legendary actor Dilip Kumar gracing her birthday celebration. On August 23, 1966, the day was doubly special as it coincided with the House Warming of her new residence at 34-B Pali Hill. Banu revealed that the house was intentionally built right next to Dilip Sahib's residence, emphasising the deep connection between the two.
Despite being shot in Madras at the time, Dilip Kumar flew to Bombay at the invitation of Banu's mother, making her birthday celebration even more memorable. Their friendship, which spanned her childhood, took a new turn during this eventful evening when Dilip Kumar confessed, "You have grown up into a beautiful girl!" Subsequently, during a series of whirlwind flights between Madras and Bombay, Dilip Kumar popped the question that changed both their lives forever: "Will you marry me?"
In no time, netizens showered love on the post and flooded the comments section with red-heart emoticons along with heartwarming birthday wishes.
