Vivek Agnihotri says his scheduled press conference for The Kashmir Files at the Foreign Correspondents' Club was cancelled; calls it “undemocratic”

In a social media video, Agnihotri called it a "strange, disturbing, and incredibly undemocratic act."

When approached, the club stated that the event was purely promotional. "The FCC South Asia has decided to cancel a promotional event and will make no further comment," FCC South Asia president Munish Gupta stated.

"A few days ago, Global Kashmiri Pandit Diaspora informed me that the Foreign Correspondents' Club in New Delhi was very interested in hosting me for a press conference because numerous foreign journalists wanted to interview me about The Kashmir Files and the truth about the Kashmiri Hindu genocide," Agnihotri said in a video posted on Twitter. A news conference has been scheduled for May 5 at 7 p.m. at the Foreign Correspondents' Club in New Delhi."

"All logistics, arrangements, and invitations had been made, but I received a call yesterday from their president informing me that the event had to be canceled due to strong opposition from some very powerful media outlets, who have threatened to resign en masse if the conference is allowed." "In an undemocratic manner, the club's management capitulated to agenda-driven, anti-free speech, anti-truth media outlets and called off the news conference," Agnihotri stated.

"It's possible that this is the first time in history that the messiahs and defenders of free speech have prohibited free speech within their own club," he added. “Since then, I've received requests for this press conference from a number of democratic Indian and foreign media outlets, but the club's management has refused to comply."

On May 4, he announced that an "open-house press conference" would be held at the Press Club of India instead.
