Yami Gautam confesses being ‘Lost’ after her debut film Vicky Donor; says, ‘had to rediscover myself’

Bollywood actress Yami Gautam is currently making headlines for her upcoming film Lost, which will premiere at the International Film Festival of India. Inspired by true events, Lost is a story of an enthusiastic young woman crime reporter in her relentless search for the truth behind the sudden disappearance of a young theatre activist. As Yami completed ten years in the showbiz, the actress recalled her journey right from her debut film, Vicky Donor.

Speaking of the same, Gautam said, “My journey is still on...I have faced loads of ups and downs but it's all worth it in the end,” to ANI. She further added, “Right after my first film, in fact right after the success of the film I did feel lost...I did not know which way to take.”

 

Elaborating further, the young actress asserted, “I was not able to connect to the opportunities I was receiving at that time... 'Do I stay without work or do I take these opportunities and still try,' all these thoughts used to linger in my mind...it took me a while to understand my own self and how to channelise my voice.”

 

Concluding the same, the Bala actress said, “I had to rediscover myself to understand what's my purpose of coming all the way here and leaving my hometown.”

 

Coming back to the premiere of Lost at IFFI 2022, Yami also participated in a Table Talk program, where she spoke about her character in the film. “Sometimes we feel less is more and I followed this dictum. I didn’t actually try to portray the character in the film. I was just inside the character as it is.”

 

Directed by Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury, the film also features Pankaj Kapur, Rahul Khanna, Neil Bhoopalam, Pia Bajpiee, and Tushar Pandey, in prominent roles.
