BTS’ SUGA initiates military enlistment process after wrapping encore concerts in Seoul

Pop titans BTS’ member SUGA will be the third member of the Korean group to enlist in the military after Jin and J-Hope. The rapper-songwriter-producer has initiated the process by applying for terminating the postponement process of his enlistment.

In a statement released by his agency BIGHIT Music on Monday, it read, “We would like to inform our fans that SUGA has initiated the military enlistment process by applying for the termination of his enlistment postponement. We will inform you of further updates in due course. We ask you for your continued love and support for SUGA until he completes his military service and safely returns. Our company will spare no effort in providing support for our artist.”

 

This news comes a day after SUGA wrapped his three additional encore concert dates on Sunday night. The 30-year-old musician was on his solo tour SUGA | Agust D TOUR ‘D-DAY’ which come to a close on August 6 in Seoul. On first night, the surprise guest was his member Jungkook who performed ‘Burn It’ along with SUGA and a solo performance on ‘Seven’ track. The second day was followed by a performance of Jimin on ‘Tony Montana’ with SUGA and ‘Like Crazy’ solo performance. The last day saw the attendance of RM, the group’s leader, who came on stage to perform ‘Strange’ along with SUGA. He also performed an unreleased track from his upcoming album. In attendance were Jin and J-Hope who are currently serving in the military in South Korea and were able to attend the event on their holiday.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Through his first solo tour, SUGA once again solidified his identity as a true musician. The setlist comprised songs from his latest solo album D-DAY and past solo mixtapes Agust D (2016) and D-2 (2020), as well as his solo tracks from BTS’ discography. The unique stage setup with moving panels that disappeared one by one throughout the show, not only portrayed SUGA’s own narrative as an artist by revealing his most candid self but also gave the audience a never-before-seen live performance experience.
