GOT7 member Jinyoung to enlist in the military in South Korea on May 8 as active-duty soldier: ‘I promise to return more mature and in good health’

Amid the news of several K-pop stars enlisting in the military in South Korea, another popular musician has announced his enlistment date. Following the K-pop group GOT7’s leader JAY B, Jinyoung will be the next member to head to the military. The musician made the official announcement via his Instagram and penned a handwritten letter for his fans.

On April 5, JTBC News was the first to report that Jinyoung will enlist as an active-duty soldier on May 8. A source from BH Entertainment shared, “Our agency’s artist Park Jinyoung will receive basic military training at the training center [starting] on Monday, May 8 and fulfill his military duty as an active-duty soldier.”

 

 

 

As reported by Soompi, the same day, he penned a note in Korean, which read, “The weather has gotten warmer. Is everyone doing well? You all must have been very surprised after coming across my enlistment news through reports. As it has been revealed, I will be enlisting in the military on May 8 in order to fulfill my military duties. Everyone must be very worried, but I have gotten rather confident and reassured while meeting all of you. That is why I promise to return more mature and in good health after experiencing a lot while thinking of everyone. Well then, let’s meet again soon. Thank you always, and I love you.”

 

Park Jinyoung debuted in 2012 through the Korean drama Dream High 2 followed by his music debut with JAY B called JJ Project. He later debuted in 2014 as a member of GOT7. He worked as a musician for several years along with the group but also simultaneously worked as an actor in dramas like The Legend of the Blue Sea, He Is Psychometric, When My Love Blooms, The Devil Judge, and the Yumi’s Cells series. He dropped his solo album in January 2023.
