Vin Diesel wants Robert Downey Jr. to join the Fast and Furious family as ‘Antithesis of Dom’

While the franchise already bows a star-studded cast after adding A-listers like Charlize Theron, Brie Larson, Rita Moreno and Jason Momoa, Fast and Furious star Vin Diesel might have another A-lister in mind to join the long-running franchise.

When asked by Variety about his dream casting at the Fast X trailer premiere on Thursday night, Diesel gave RDJ’s name without hesitation and he seemingly also has a role in mind for him!

 

“Without telling you too much about what happens in the future, there’s a character who is the antithesis of Dom who is promoting AI and driverless cars and a philosophy that with that goes your freedom,” Diesel said.

 

“There is somebody that believes that’s the future, and that’s at direct odds with the Toretto mentality.” When asked if he approached the mega star about the role, Diesel replied, “How dare you ask me this question in front of all these people? I have pride and I have dignity.”

 

 

 

Meanwhile, Diesel’s co-star Michelle Rodriguez also added whose cameo she’d like to see in the final Fast and Furious film. “Who’s the guy from these amazing ‘Jason Bourne’ movies? Matt Damon!” Rodriguez said. “I fucking want Matt Damon. Matt Damon, would you be in a ‘Fast and Furious’ movie? C’mon, we got four Oscar winners, man. And you’re an Oscar winner!”

 

 

 

Besides Diesel and Rodriguez, Fast X will see the return of Ludacris, Tyrese Gibson, Jordana Brewster, Nathalie Emmanuel, Sung Kang, Michael Rooker, Scott Eastwood, and Charlize Theron alongside newcomers Rita Moreno, Alan Ritchson, Daniela Melchior, and Brie Larson.

 

Directed by Louis Leterrier, the upcoming tenth instalment is slated for a release on May 19, 2023.
