Sanjay Dutt shot by his mother in Vaastav

In Vaastav, Sanjay Dutt was a gangster, Deepak Tijori was a cop, Reema Lagoo the mother and Mohan Joshi the villain. Now imagine Mohan Joshi killing Sanjay Dutt, Reema Lagoo shedding tears and reminding Deepak Tijori of his friendship with Dutt and Tijori in turn pumping bullets into Joshi. All is well, one may say? No sir, the film would have been a resounding flop. The film worked wonders because Dutt had done his job before he landed up at his mothers place. In fact on an alternate note there wouldnt have been many takers either had the mother killed Joshi. Nope, the job had to be finished by Dutt and not by his mother, friend or a neighbour. Ab mujhe mukti chahiye, and so said Dutt. Audience didnt complain either; after all, the drug addict in him had to die in any case. Bad had eliminated ugly and the good prevailed after all.
