Lucky Baskhar Trailer: Dulquer Salmaan turns from a protective middle-class family man into a greedy man obsessed with wealth

After exploring multiple, versatile characters in films, Dulquer Salmaan will be seen in another gripping avatar in the highly-anticipated film Lucky Baskhar. The film presents a twisted rags-to-riches story of a man who realizes the need for wealth to earn respect and protect his family. After getting several glimpses through posters, first look, teaser etc. the makers finally unveiled the trailer of this pan Indian drama, also starring Meenakshi Chaudhary, on Tuesday.

Set in 80s Mumbai, the short almost 3-minute trailer takes audiences on a thrilling ride that starts off with a simple love story of a woman who stands by her man, who is a middle-class simpleton working in a bank. While initially they seem content with her simple lifestyle, soon financial problems as Baskhar seems himself sinking in debt and in dire need of money which forces him to take steps to improve his condition. Desperate to find a solution, Baskhar sets out on a journey of ambition. Soon wealth turns into greed as Baskhar continues the journey despite the several dangers that follows.

 

 

While the film was expected to release much earlier, it had suffered a few setbacks and delays. Addressing a few delays which happened because of his health issue, Dulquer told in an interview with TV9, "I don't like gaps. This year, I was supposed to do a couple of films. One got cancelled and one didn't work out at the last minute. Then, I had health issues. We [Lucky Baskhar team] had delays because of that.” However, he also expressed the supportive nature of the film’s producer, director and the crew. “Once when we were shooting and if I was in some kind of pain, they'll say 'Sir, we'll stop now. Don't do this. Go home and take some time off. We'll come back and shoot. A huge set was erected for Lucky Baskhar. If I insisted on continuing the shoot, they'd say that they don't want to see me in pain. They were so supportive", he added.

 

Coming to the film, Lucky Baskhar is directed by Venky Atluri and produced by Sithara Entertainments. It also stars Ramki, Surya Sreenivas, Sachin Khedekar, P. Sai Kumar, among others in key roles with Meenakshi Chaudhary playing the role of Baskhar’s wife and child artist Ritvik as their son. With music scored by G. V. Prakash Kumar, cinematography by Nimish Ravi, and film edited by Naveen Nooli, it is slated to release on October 31 in all the South languages as well as Hindi.
