Mansoor Ali Khan’s defamation suit against Trisha denied by Madras High Court, fined Rs 1 lakh: Report

In a development related to the ongoing controversy surrounding actor Mansoor Ali Khan's misogynistic remarks about Trisha, the Madras High Court has declined the actor's request to file a defamation suit against the actress and other celebrities. According to a report by Bar and Bench, the court imposed a fine of Rs 1 lakh on Khan and directed him to deposit the amount with the Adyar Cancer Institute in Chennai.

This decision comes after Khan approached the court seeking permission to file a suit against Trisha, megastars Chiranjeevi and Khushboo Sundar, alleging they had taken his comments out of context and made defamatory statements against him on social media. Earlier, Khan had made offensive remarks about Trisha at a press conference for his film, Leo, prompting condemnation from Trisha, Chiranjeevi, Khushboo, and the film's makers.

Following the promotion of his film Leo, Khan made misogynistic remarks about Trisha, prompting immediate backlash. Trisha, in a strong statement, termed Khan's words "vile and disgusting" and vowed to never share screen space with him.

Later, the National Commission for Women took suo moto cognisance of Khan's statement, leading to the registration of an FIR against him by the Chennai police under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.
