A.R. Rahman’s daughter Khatija turns composer; to make debut with Halitha Shameem directorial Minmini
Oscar-winning composer AR Rahman is widely known for his incredible contribution to the Indian music industry. Now, his daughter Khatija Rahman is also all set to give composing music a try. She will soon mark her debut as a composer with an upcoming Tamil film, Minmini.
To make the official announcement of the same, Minmini director Halitha Shameem, on Monday morning, took to Twitter and shared a picture of Khatija from the composing session. In the caption, Halitha called the debutant composer “an exceptional talent.” For the unversed, Khatija is already an established singer. Minmini will be her first project as a composer.
Shameem tweeted, “So happy to be working with this exceptional talent, Khatija Rahman for #MinMini. The euphonious singer is a brilliant music composer too. Some great music underway!”
“Wow..Unexpected.. Waiting for this little #Minmini magic,” wrote one user, while another commented, “How exciting!!! I love Khatija's singing and now we get to hear her composing new music too!! Fantastic!”
Speaking of the same, Khatija told Times Of India, “Last year, I was figuring out what I wanted to do. Also, I was singing and doing so many things at that point. I felt there was too much on my plate. But later, there was another project - also by a female director — that came to me. So, I called Halitha ma’am and told her things had changed, and asked if she still wanted me.”
She further added, “I played her my independent track. After hearing that, she said, ‘This is exactly my vibe. I like your voice. I like your thinking. So, I want to work with you. I feel you can add value to the film.’ We decided to give it a try and take it forward.”
