Soorarai Pottru starring Suriya, Mohan Babu enters Oscars 2021 race

Tamil film Soorarai Pottru premiered on Amazon Prime Video on November 12, 2020. The film received praises from the industry, audience, and critics. The film stars Suriya, Mohan Babu, Paresh Rawal, and Aparna Balamurli. The film is loosely based on the book encapsulating the life of a retired Army Captain, G. R. Gopinath who founded Air Deccan, a low-cost airline. It's been revealed that the film has entered the Oscars 2021 race.

On Republic Day, the film's co-producer Rajsekar Pandian took to Twitter to announce the huge news saying, "Happy Republic Day! #SooraraiPottru joins OSCARS under General Category in Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Director, Best Original Score, and other categories! The film has been made available in the Academy Screening Room today."

 

 

 

The 93rd Academy Awards has been postponed to April 25. Soorarai Pottru became the first Tamil movie last year to premiere on the digital platform. The movie is directed by Sudha Kongara, bankrolled by Guneet Monga's Sikhya Entertainment.
