His recently released film Dukaan, on the plight of commercial sex workers starring Rambha and Rati Agnihotri, might have gone unnoticed at the ticket window. But that doesn't deter filmmaker Iqbal Durrani to start work on his next film titled Gandhi Se Pehle Gandhi.
Durrani claims that his film is about a real life freedom fighter who initiated the non-cooperation and non-violence movement against British rulers in India much before Mahatma Gandhi. The character Durrani is talking about is Birsa Munda who was born in Jharkhand and died succumbing to the atrocities of the British soldiers in 1902. The film will focus on the last four years of this freedom fighter whose name does not appear anywhere in history of Indian independence.
An anchor from BBC news - Sameer Kocchar, will play Munda's character in the film.
