Amitabh Bachchan has been accused of committing blasphemy in the movie Mohabbatein by a religious organization of Varanasi.
The organization has urged the Indian Government to take action against Amitabh for reciting the gayatri mantra while wearing shoes. According to them, the mantra must only be chanted barefoot. They have threatened to launch an agitation if the scene is not removed from the movie.
Amitabh has denied the accusations and said that he did not have his shoes on while reciting the mantra. He added that even during the dubbing of that scene, he had removed his shoes. Meanwhile, Yashraj films have issued a statement that the accusation of the organisation was unjust and erroneous.
