The Indian censors have shown exceeding benevolence towards the next Hollywood franchise Batman Versus Superman which pitches the two iconic comic book characters against one another. Directed by Zack Synder the film, starring Ben Affleck as Batman and Henry Cavill as Superman, opens on March 25.
The film has been granted a 'UA' certificate with just one cut.
Says a source in the know, "The CBFC (the Censor Board of Film Certification) was very keen that this big-screen spectacle be seen by youngsters. Some of the content was not completely suited to underage viewers. But the violence is done in the spirit of a comic book adventure. The film was passed with a 'UA' (suitable for underage viewers accompanied by an adult) and with one cut of a fleeting nude figure."
Interestingly Rocky Handsome, the big Hindi release on the same Friday March 25, is battling with the censor board for a 'UA' instead of an 'A' certificate. If it fails to get a 'UA' it would be a big box office blow for Rocky Handsome vis-a-vis Batman Versus Superman.
