News circuits were constantly bombarded with speculations about Nawazuddin Siddiqui replacing Farhan Akhtar in the action film Raees. Though most people associated with the film seemed clueless about it for the longest time, now it has finally been decided that it is indeed Nawaz who will playing the lead along with Shah Rukh Khan in this Rahul Dholakia directorial.
Producer Ritesh Sidhwani has put an end to all these rumours and clarified that Nawazuddin and Shah Rukh Khan will be playing the main roles and an announcement of the lead actress will be made soon. Also, he further added that a set will be constructed at the renowned Film City studio in suburban Mumbai for the film by the end of this month (December). He also revealed that the film was slated to go on floor this month but had to be postponed to February 2015 because of which the film is clashing with his partner and actor Farhan Akhtar's Rock On 2 schedule. Hence, Farhan decided to step down and Nawazuddin Siddiqui was roped in for the same.
Produced under the banner Excel Entertainment, Raees will have Nawazuddin in the role of a sharp cop who will be chasing the mafia head which will be portrayed by Shah Rukh Khan. As far as the release date is concerned, Ritesh maintained that it will depend on the release of Shah Rukh Khan's film upcoming film Fan which is produced by Aditya Chopra (Yash Raj Films).
