Dum Maaro Dum was discussed in Goa Assembly earlier this month where opposition party wanted a ban on the film. This thought was also endorsed by ex-tourism minister Francisco Pacheco. However, the speaker of the house Pratap Singh Rane commented that the film represents a part of Goa's reality.
Earlier, GSWC (Goa State Women's Commission) lodged a complaint about a dialogue in the film, which they found insensitive towards women. In the promos of the film there was a dialogue voice over on Goa saying 'Yahan sharab sasti, ladkiyan use bhi sasti aur zindagi toh muft mein hi mil jaati hai.'
Dum Maaro Dum cleared for release by Goa High CourtThe Ministry Of Information And Broadcasting had ordered the makers of Dum Maaro Dum to make necessary changes and the makers had to delete the line from the film and promo.
Also, a PIL was filed in Goa High Court against the film by Savio Rodrigues which was to be heard on Wednesday 13th of April initially got adjourned. Later during the proceedings the Honourable Judge found that there were no grounds to pass a ban order based on the facts asserted in the Petition and the evidence placed on record in support of the Petition.
While considering the detailed Affidavit in reply filed on behalf of the Producers and Distributors, the Court agreed with the contention raised therein that no grounds have been made out for the grant of any of the requests made in the Petition. The film will now release as per the schedule.
