It was a spectacular launch. And the cr? de la cr? of the film industry was present to wish the Jain brothers of Venus the very best. On Saturday night [September 6], all roads led to Hotel Intercontinental Grand, Sahar, the venue for the launch of Venus' multi-starrer ELAAN, directed by Vikram Bhatt. The unique aspect of the mahurat was that there was no camera switching on ceremony, no coconut breaking ritual, no speeches... Instead, an 8-minute film, especially shot for the launch, was screened for the august gathering. A similar mahurat was witnessed more than a decade ago during the launch of the Big B - Sridevi starrer KHUDA GAWAH, directed by Mukul S. Anand. A crucial sequence was shot before the film was actually launched and screened at the mahurat of the film at Gaiety cinema, Bandra. In the case of KAANTE as well, the makers launched the film by having an audio-visual presentation. Except, in this case, the audio-visual presentation consisted of a montage of stills. Coming back to ELAAN, the introduction of the principal characters [Rahul Khanna, Arjun Rampal, John Abraham, Amisha Patel, Lara Dutta and Mithun Chakraborty] was screened to the guests. And the outcome was awesome! Revolving around a five-men army versus an extortionist [Mithun Chakraborty], ELAAN will be shot extensively in Russia and Egypt. Amitabh Bachchan, Vinod Khanna, I.M.P.P.A. President Smita Thackeray, Akshaye Khanna, Bobby Deol, Aftab Shivdasani, Bipasha Basu, Bharat Shah, the Taurani brothers [Tips], Mukesh Desai [T-Series], Mukesh Bhatt, Vashu Bhagnani, Pravin Shah, Harry and Harman Baweja, Priyadarshan, Madhur Bhandarkar, Yogesh Radhakrishnan [etc channel], Vijay Tolani, Rajiv Tolani... turned up to wish the Jains.
