After having set the silver screen afire with her livewire performances in her films, actress Kajol is now all set to give Doordarshan the much needed facelift, if everything goes well. Kajol has made it to the list of names proposed by the government to complete the Prasar Bharti Board in order to make Doordarshan commercially viable. Besides Kajol, the other names that have been shortlisted include Anup Jalota, Ashok Tandon (Vajpayee's media advisor) and Minhaz Merchant (senior journalist).
The Information & Broadcasting ministry had sent a list of seven names for the post of Doordarshan's part time board members, of which the Vice President, alongwith the Chairman of Press Council will shortlist four of them.
Insiders say that the reason for Kajol to be considered for the post was because the government was looking at completely changing Doordarshan's look and feel in the forthcoming months. And it was essential to have someone on board from the mainstream entertainment industry.
