Almost two decades ago, Saawan Kumar had teamed Rajesh Khanna, Tina Munim and Padmini Kolhapure in SOUTEN. Now, distributor turned producer Naveen Tak is all geared up to start SOUTEN - THE OTHER WOMAN with Mahima Chaudhary and Padmini Kolhapure essaying pivotal roles.
To be directed by Karan Razdan [HAWAS, GIRL FRIEND], Tak describes his film as a family drama, with an undercurrent of eroticism. Co-starring in the film are Shakti Kapoor and Gulshan Grover along with Vikram Singh and Kiran Rathod.
Incidentally, Saawan Kumar himself suggested the title of the new film.
SOUTEN - THE OTHER WOMAN will roll on December 1 with a 25-day schedule in Bikaner, followed by a 10-day spell in Mauritius [coincidentally, the original SOUTEN was also shot in Mauritius].
Naveen has stepped into the production arena with AASHIQUI [director: Jaiprakash; releasing on Valentine's Day], followed by DAAG [director: Hriday Shetty; releasing in March 2005] and has now announced SOUTEN. Another coincidence is that all three titles had proved hits when released in the past.
