The week gone by saw unleashing of the anthem number in Rowdy Rathore that goes as 'Chinta Ta Chita Chita'. While the hook-line has caught instant attention amongst the masses, what also raised eyebrows amongst film aficionados was the fact that it is more than just similar to 'Zinta Ta Zita Zita'. It is not just a coincidence that the song belongs to the film Vikramarkudu of which Rowdy Rathore is a remake.
"It is apparent that it isn't just the film but even the theme song that has been remade here. In Vikramarkudu, the song appears at various junctures in the film and it isn't just Ravi Teja, the film's lead, on whom the song appears but even Anushka Shetty who performed on it towards the pre-climax. Now it's the turn of Akshay Kumar and Sonakshi Sinha to bring this on", informs a film buff.
However, before one is quick to jump on conclusion and accuse Sajid-Wajid, composer duo of Rowdy Rathore to have lifted this one, here is the truth. The fact is that they have actually procured rights of the song and have re-composed and re-arranged major part of it.
"The song in question is 'College Papala' [Zinta Ta] which was an original composition of MM Kreem. It was a rage down South when it was released", informs our source from the Telugu film industry, "The song is just irreplaceable since it's a part of the screenplay. It isn't just an item number but even fills in for dialogues at number of points in the film. You would realize its importance once you watch Rowdy Rathore. Hence, when the film was planned, it was by default that the song made its way into the remake as well."
Not to fall prey to any charges of 'lifting' the song, Sajid-Wajid were quick to buy even though it's just the hook-line of 'Zinta Ta' which has been directly converted to 'Chinta Ta'.
"Yes, we have brought our own style to the composition and even though it's just the hook which is same, rest is our own. Still, we don't want any last minute trouble and hence bought the rights of 'Zinta Ta'", informs Wajid, "In any case, it is our pleasure that we could amalgamate our work into MM Kreem saab's composition. He is one of our favourite composers and to get this opportunity and collaborate with his work is an honour in itself."
This is incidentally the second instance in recent times when South inspiration has been evidenced in a Hindi song. Just a few days back even Ram Gopal Varma had procured rights for the hook-line of 'Dan Dan Dan' (Department) from a Rajinikanth chartbuster.
