Two years back, Saif Ali Khan was arrested by the Mumbai police for assaulting a South African citizen of Indian origin named Iqbal Sharma at Taj Hotel. And now, charges have been pressed against Saif in this case under IPC Section 325 which is voluntarily causing grievous hurt and 34 which is acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention.
In 2012, Saif who had been at the Wasabi restaurant in Taj Hotel with his then girlfriend Kareena Kapoor and friends Malaika Arora Khan, Amrita Arora and others was accused of breaking businessman Iqbal's nose and assaulting his father-in-law. Along with him, others alleged in this case included Shakeel Ladak (husband of Amrita Arora) and his friend Bilal Amrohi. While Iqbal maintained that he got into an argument with Saif after they refused to mellow down their on-going party, Saif in a statement to the media claimed that he was assaulted by the NRI businessman and he got into the brawl because Iqbal abused the ladies in his group.
Post two years, the Khan's case has resurfaced and the hearing on this is said to commence from April 30.
