Rumours are rife that Pritish Nandy has assigned the directorial reins of his ambitious venture SAHIB BIBI AUR GHULAM to Deepa Mehta. When this writer called Nandy to verify the news, all he said was, Wait and watch.
The grapevine is also abuzz with the news that Salman Khan [in the role of Guru Dutt], Kareena Kapoor [Waheeda Rehman] and Manisha Koirala [Meena Kumari] have been finalised for the film. That's absolutely untrue, Nandy clarifies, We haven't finalised anyone yet.
Nandy continues in the same breath, We're in the process of finalising the star cast and have been negotiating with a few stars, but haven't really signed anyone yet. A clear picture will only emerge in two weeks from now, he adds. Watch this space!
