Suniel Shetty finds himself in the midst of an uncalled for controversy. A right to information (RTI) application obtained by activist Assad Patel reveals that Suniel has constructed a furniture showroom by renovating a building on Dr.E.Moses Road in Worli without obtaining necessary permissions from the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).
The building in question- Shroff House- used to earlier house Shetty's restaurant Broadway and in 2006, the landlord Mr.Shroff had given him an NOC to carry on repairs to the shop without causing any alteration and damage to the building. However, Shetty apparently went ahead and made several structural changes to the building while constructing his furniture showroom. Apparently, even after the BMC issued a stop work notice on August 3, work continued to take place. Patel meanwhile has been complaining to various civic authorities to take some action but his plea seems to have fallen on deaf ears.
