Actor-director Deepak Tijori has found himself in a legal tangle prior to the release of his film Tom, Dick and Harry. And the person who has landed him there is Sohail Khan, who has sent him a legal notice for use of the title. Sohail Khan now wants to claim damages to the tune of Rs.10 crores, as he claims that he had registered the title in August 2003. He even informed Deepak that the title was not available but the producers of the film were adamant.
The producer of Tom, Dick and Harry, Surendra Bhatia insists that they had registered the name with the Association of Motion Pictures and TV Programme Producers (AMPTPP) in August. The rights of the title were with Sudesh Berry, earlier. Sohail Khan has not renewed the title since the past two years, whereas according to the rules, a producer has to renew the title every year, till the shooting commences. The shooting for Tom, Dick and Harry is almost complete and changing the title at this juncture will not be possible. Sohail should perhaps save the producers all the trouble. After all, whats in a name?
