Vivek Oberoi completes a decade in Bollywood

Life has indeed come back full circle for Vivek Oberoi as he completes one decade in the industry. It was on April 12, 2002 when his debut film Company had hit the screens and while a lot of water has passed under the bridge since then, Vivek is content that he is happy to be standing on his feet and still smiling away.

"Company had released exactly 10 years back and so much has happened ever since then. Vivek has practically seen the best and the worst in the years gone by but thankfully marriage has brought certain stability in his life. He is much calmer and composed than before and thankfully controversies surrounding him have also died down. The fact that he is doing five major films today and that too either as a prime protagonist or an antagonist is a testimony to that", says an industry veteran who has seen his career progress quite closely.

When Company was released, he was one of the hottest commodities in the industry, so much so that even Aditya Chopra had stated that he was the next Shah Rukh Khan in the offering. By playing varied characters in commercially successful/critically acclaimed films like Saathiya, Dum, Masti and Yuva, he was pretty much the toast of the town.

"A few wrong choices let him down though. Kisna, Pyaare Mohan, Home Delivery, Kyun Ho Gaya Naa etc. were hardly the kind of films that justified his talent", the veteran continues, "There were sparks of his talent visible in Shootout At Lokhandwala and Omkara but a hit is something that he was longing for. Thankfully, Prince did bring him back into the reckoning to some extent at the least."

However, with excess baggage being the story of the past, Vivek is hoping that next couple of years would help him consolidate his position in the industry.

"He is really enjoying the shoot of (tentatively titled) Jayanta Bhai and Kismat, Love, Paisa, Dilli where he is playing the central protagonist. Zila Ghaziabad is a terrific ensemble affair while he is the main villain in Krrish 3. Icing on the cake is Grand Masti which is sequel to his immensely popular Masti", says a close friend of the actor, "After the high that he enjoyed in Company, it is time for him to announce his arrival all over again. He is in the best of mental and physical health today. All negativity has been thrown away and now all he wants is his work to talk for itself."

Hope that would indeed the case once Vivek manages to hang on for another decade as well.
